Time Flies When You’re Playing

22 Jan

A friend once told me, “The reason for me to stay home isn’t to clean the house all day, it’s to BE with the kids.” I’m finally starting to realize that she was so right! “Things” can wait. At least once or twice a week, I try to do nothing but play with the kids – no running errands, no play dates, no doctors appointments (which we’ve been having a lot of) – just mama and kid time. On those days (and maybe a couple of others) I’m a little more lax on the housework and the picking up of toys strewn all over the house. This was pretty hard for me at first, as I’ve always been a bit of a neat-freak. But…it can wait and time spent bonding with my kids will not. When Lila started preschool last fall it made me sadly realize that in less than two short years she will be in school all day, everyday. I can’t imagine. She on the other hand would start now if it were up to her, ugh. My sweet, kind and funny baby girl is a’ growing up. So, while I have her, I’m going to try my darndest to make the best of it and play.
