Oui, s’il vous plaît!

19 Feb

Over the weekend, I had the rare opportunity for some girl time, sans kids. My friend (a mama of 4) and I went to a french cooking class at Cook Au Vin. The class started off with a little bit of wine, french cheeses, pâté and bread…uh yum. I was pretty nervous, having never dabbled in zee French cooking before, but Chef Scott made it super easy and fun. His cool, laid-back style was just what we needed.

During the 4-hour class we were cooking, drinking & tasting non-stop. It couldn’t get much better…a perfect night out for two moms who needed a break. Everything was beautiful & delicious & saucy. My favorite was the oh so tasty sausage with boar, ostrich and bacon or le saucisson de sanglier avec l’autruche et le bacon. Here’s a quick look at our night…

What a fun cooking class! Your outing makes me homesick for Chicago (where I went to design school) and Paris (where I lived for 3 years). Great fun and food in both places!

Paris, ooh la la! I’m from Kalamazoo area (and lived there for a few years)…that’s where you live now, right? Pretty small world!

Yes, I grew up in Kalamazoo and returned here last May after being away for 30 years! I lived most of that time in San Francisco….another great place for fun adventures and fabulous food. It’s nice to be near Chicago again, just in case I need a big city fix 😉
